Leadership coaching, also known as Executive coaching, is a powerful development partnership for leaders at any level – executives, managers, supervisors, first-time team leads, succession candidates and high potentials.

Tony Rosendahl is an Executive Coach that is certified by CoActive Institute as well as being a certified Leadership Circle Profile Practitioner. The definition of Executive coaching is: “Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential”.

Personal transformation supported by executive coaching begins with The Leadership Circle Profile™, the most impactful 360 feedback instrument ever developed. Through powerful coaching conversations based on insightful questioning and deep, active listening, we create personal and professional change by helping clients increase their self-awareness, understand their character, style and impact on others and then set development goals to dramatically increase their leadership character and competence.

We work with individual leaders, teams and groups. We also offer Mentor Coaching and Supervision Coaching.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF COACHING

The coaching relationship is unlike any other. Your coach is focused on you and is fully committed to the process of supporting you to further improve your performance, achieve your goals and maximize your personal and professional potential. The coaching agenda is driven by you and the goals you set for your program and for each session. Your coach works collaboratively with you and acts as a thinking partner or sounding board, using insightful questions to guide you to meeting your goals. You will be able to share, with complete confidentiality, deeply meaningful thoughts and feelings to uncover the root causes of any challenge and opportunity in your personal and professional life.

Some of the positives you will experience through coaching are:

  • Having a confidential sounding board and thinking partner
  • Being heard and understood
  • Guided self-reflection and discovery
  • Acknowledging and building on your strengths
  • Increasing your self awareness
  • Understanding your underlying limiting beliefs and assumptions
  • Encouraging your vision of who you want to be
  • Finding ways to get unstuck and make a difference
  • Finding solutions to problems
  • Creation of an action plan to achieve specific goals and to improve your personal and professional performance
  • Achieving positive behavior change for individuals and teams in a relatively short time
  • Increasing your confidence and capability
  • Setting a clear path forward for your development
  • It is ALL ABOUT YOU achieving your greatest potential

Getting Started

  1. Make the coaching engagement a priority. Coaching is a commitment you are making to yourself, and the more prepared and engaged you are in the process, the more value you will get out of it.
  2. Make the time for all aspects of the coaching. Set aside uninterrupted time to prepare for your session. Be present and focused for the session. Debrief the session and complete the actions you committed to when you said you would get them done.
  3. Within the first few sessions and with your coach determine 3 to 5 goals that are truly meaningful to you.
  4. You may want to arrange a 3-way conversation with your Supervisor and Coach to make sure you align their priorities with yours and with your coaching goals.
  5. Consider focusing your goals, challenges and opportunities for you in your organization, aligning your personal and professional goals with those of your Supervisor and your company.
  6. Work with your coach to maintain your solid commitment to your objective and goals!
  7. Come to each session prepared with a clear idea of what you would like to get out of it. This is your time, and your agenda drives the session and its outcomes.
  8. Much of the coaching happens between the sessions, such as reading books or articles in support of your Program. Develop action plans with your coach and be accountable to your plans. New ways of thinking and new practices happen between sessions and become the foundation for the outcomes you are striving to achieve.

Making the Most of Working with a Coach

The highest impact coaching occurs when you and your coach create a strong partnership. This takes courage and commitment from both of you! Here are some aspects of a coaching engagement to focus on to ensure you gain the most value:

  1. Commit to making your coaching sessions a priority on your calendar and to working with your coach through regular sessions for a specific period of time.
  2. Come prepared and focused to your coaching sessions. Reflect on and bring one or more topics that you would like to discuss with your coach. Also reflect on what your desired outcome for the coaching session.
  3. Be open minded and receptive to feedback.
  4. Have the courage to be honest with yourself and to be deeply self-reflective.
  5. Accept that we all influence the people and environment we work and live in much more than we realize.
  6. Take ownership of your objective, goals, agenda and outcomes and remember that your initiative, commitment, and engagement in the program is what drives its success. Find ways to be as involved and engaged as possible.
  7. Think big! The highest impact coaching is personally transformational and deeply meaningful.
  8. Take responsibility for your results. Commit to actions you will undertake and be accountable for following through.
  9. Communicate openly and clearly with your coach, asking questions and providing feedback until you are satisfied. Be as open, honest, trusting, vulnerable, courageous and candid with your coach as you can be. Share how you really think and feel. Don’t hold back!
  10. Acknowledge progress and celebrate success!
